PYONGYANG, June 9 (Xinhua) — On the afternoon of June 9, local time, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of the People’s Republic of China, concluded his state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and departed Pyongyang. Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, along with his wife, Ri Sol-ju, went to the airport to see him off and hosted a grand farewell ceremony for Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan.
On the way to the airport, people from all walks of life in Pyongyang gathered along the roadside, waving the national flags of China and North Korea and holding flowers, chanting slogans celebrating China–North Korea friendship, and warmly seeing them off.

At the airport, thousands of citizens and children stood in neat formation, warmly welcoming the leaders. To the stirring strains of music, Xi Jinping, accompanied by Kim Jong-un, reviewed the honor guard, shook hands one by one with the high-ranking North Korean officials who had come to see them off, and waved to the cheering crowd. Xi Jinping and his wife then exchanged another warm farewell with Kim Jong-un and his wife, boarded the aircraft ramp, and departed Pyongyang aboard their special plane.
