Xi Jinping delivered an important speech, emphasizing that the Communist Party of China has been able to achieve continuous brilliance over its 105 years of struggle, and that the reason history and the people have chosen the CPC lies fundamentally in the Party’s unparalleled strengths—qualities that no other political party or force can match. BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) — A grand rally marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China was solemnly held on the morning of July 1 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, presented the “July 1 Medal” to its recipients and delivered an important speech. He emphasized that over the past 105 years, our Party has remained steadfast in its original aspiration and mission to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation, achieving remarkable feats that will be recorded in history through tireless efforts. On the new journey ahead, all members of the Party must strengthen their confidence, carry forward the struggle, and continue to deliver new accomplishments worthy of the times and the people.

At around 9 a.m., the recipients of the “July 1 Medal” departed their accommodations in ceremonial motorcars, escorted by a motorcycle honor guard, en route to the Great Hall of the People. Outside the north entrance of the Great Hall, honor guards stood in formation on both sides of the road, while young people cheered enthusiastically in greeting. The medalists ascended the red carpet step by step and entered the Great Hall. Leading officials from the Party and State Committee for Commendation of Meritorious Service and Honors were there to greet them collectively.

The Great Hall of the People was filled with a solemn and enthusiastic atmosphere. Above the rostrum hung the banner reading “Conference Commemorating the 105th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China,” while at the center of the backdrop shone the resplendent emblem of the Communist Party of China. Below the emblem was the inscription “1921–2026,” flanked by ten red flags. On the second-floor balcony, a slogan proclaimed: “Closely unite around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core; fully implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; carry forward the great spirit of Party building; remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind; and strive unremittingly to advance the great cause of national rejuvenation through the comprehensive development of a modern socialist country in the Chinese style!”

At 10:00 sharp, Li Qiang declared the celebration ceremony open, and the entire audience rose to their feet and sang the national anthem.

Cai Qi read out the Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Conferment of the “July 1 Medal.” The Decision stated that, in order to solemnly honor meritorious and exemplary Party members who have long been rooted at the grassroots level, dedicated themselves to the Party, served the people, and made outstanding contributions, and to inspire the entire Party to remain true to its original aspiration and keep its mission firmly in mind, striving with vigor and forging ahead with courage, the CPC Central Committee has decided to confer the “July 1 Medal” upon comrades Ma Shanxiang, Wang Yuchang, Li Liancheng, Wuhas Sulaiman, Wu Yaqin, Chen Junwu, Zhao Yafu, and Zhong Jue.

To the stirring strains of the anthem “Salute to the Heroes of the Motherland,” Xi Jinping presented the “July 1 Medal” to each recipient, warmly shaking their hands and extending his congratulations. He stated that today, we are convening with great solemnity to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, to review the glorious journey our Party has traversed, to look ahead to the bright prospects for the development of the Party and the people’s cause, and to rally all Party members and the people of all ethnic groups across the country to advance with full confidence toward the grand goal of fully building a modern socialist country and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee, Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to all members of the Communist Party of China, and extended warm congratulations to the recipients of the “July 1st Medal,” as well as to the nationally recognized outstanding Communist Party members, outstanding Party affairs workers, and advanced primary-level Party organizations.

Xi Jinping pointed out that 105 years ago, in the great awakening of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation, and through the close integration of Marxism-Leninism with the Chinese workers’ movement, the Communist Party of China was born. Since then, the Chinese people and the Chinese nation have had their most reliable backbone, and China—plagued by internal troubles and external threats, and long mired in poverty and weakness—has embarked on a momentous historical transformation.

Xi Jinping emphasized that over the past 105 years, our Party has united and led the people of all ethnic groups across the country in tireless struggle, achieving great accomplishments in the new-democratic revolution, the socialist revolution and construction, reform and opening-up and socialist modernization, and socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, thus writing the most magnificent epic in the millennia-long history of the Chinese nation. Through 105 years of unremitting endeavor, we have fundamentally transformed the future and destiny of the Chinese people, blazed the correct path toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, demonstrated the powerful vitality of Marxism, profoundly influenced the course of world history, and forged a strong Communist Party of China. Our Party is fully worthy of being hailed as a great, glorious, and correct Party.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the reason the Communist Party of China has been able to achieve continuous brilliance over its 105-year struggle, and why history and the people have chosen the CPC, lies fundamentally in the Party’s unparalleled strengths—qualities that no other political party or force can match. Our Party is steadfastly committed to pursuing truth and consistently stays on the right course; it is deeply rooted among the people and enjoys an unshakable foundation; it bravely shoulders its historic mission and maintains strategic initiative; it follows the trends of development and remains at the forefront of the times; it dares to fight and knows how to fight, always sustaining unwavering confidence in victory; and it focuses on strengthening itself, thereby remaining vibrant and full of vitality. We must, in light of new realities, further promote and carry forward these outstanding qualities of the Party, ensuring that it never changes its nature, its character, or its essence, and that it continues to possess formidable creativity, cohesion, and combat effectiveness.

Xi Jinping emphasized that fulfilling the Party’s mission and tasks in the new era and on the new journey requires all members of the Communist Party of China to remain confident, carry forward the struggle, and continuously achieve new accomplishments worthy of the times and the people. To maintain confidence and press ahead, we must uphold the Party’s basic theory, basic line, and basic policy; ensure the Party’s overall leadership and the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee; thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; and firmly strengthen our confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We must build on past achievements while forging ahead, stay true to fundamentals and promote innovation, and remain resolute in the face of distractions and challenges, sailing boldly through turbulent waters without losing our way. We must rely closely on the people to create great historical achievements, put into practice the development philosophy centered on the people, and fully unleash the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of hundreds of millions of people. We should coordinate the five-sphere integrated plan and advance the four-pronged comprehensive strategy in a balanced manner, fully, accurately, and comprehensively implement the new development philosophy, accelerate the establishment of a new development paradigm, and make solid progress in promoting high-quality development. We must proactively address the risks and challenges ahead, strengthen our sense of potential danger, adhere to bottom-line thinking, carry forward the spirit of struggle, enhance our capacity to engage in it, and better balance the domestic and international contexts, as well as the interplay between development and security. We must continue to advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit, promote common values of all humanity, and work to implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative, thereby injecting more positive energy into world peace and development. Finally, we must persistently and steadfastly advance comprehensive and strict Party self-governance, fully implement the Party-building thought of the new era, improve the system of comprehensive and strict Party self-governance, and, with political Party building as the overarching principle, strengthen all aspects of Party building. We must fight decisively and sustainably—on all fronts—the tough battle against corruption, and continuously enhance the Party’s political leadership, ideological guidance, mass mobilization, and social appeal.

Xi Jinping pointed out that a strong country must have a strong military, and only a strong military can ensure national security. It is imperative to fully implement the Party’s thought on strengthening the military in the new era, uphold the Party’s absolute leadership over the People’s Armed Forces, and comprehensively advance political building of the military, strengthening it through reform, science and technology, talent development, and governance based on law. We must promote the modernization of national defense and the armed forces at a high standard, achieve the centenary goals for building the armed forces as scheduled, and accelerate the transformation of the People’s Armed Forces into a world-class military.

Xi Jinping emphasized that fostering the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao is an intrinsic requirement for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It is essential to fully and accurately, and with unwavering resolve, implement the principles of “One Country, Two Systems,” “Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong,” “Macao people administering Macao,” and a high degree of autonomy, so as to promote the economic and social development of Hong Kong and Macao and support their greater integration into and contribution to the overall national development agenda.

Xi Jinping pointed out that resolving the Taiwan question and achieving complete national reunification is a historic mission to which our Party remains steadfastly committed, and it is the common aspiration of all Chinese sons and daughters. We must thoroughly implement the Party’s overall strategy for resolving the Taiwan question in the new era, uphold the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, unite the vast majority of our compatriots in Taiwan, deepen cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation as well as integrated development, resolutely combat “Taiwan independence” separatist forces, oppose interference by external forces, and unswervingly advance the great cause of national reunification.

Xi Jinping emphasized that young people are the vital force driving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The entire Party must value, care for, and support youth, creating favorable conditions for their growth and development. In the new era, Chinese youth must unswervingly heed the Party’s guidance and follow its lead, set lofty aspirations, courageously shoulder the responsibilities of the times, and run well in the historic relay race on the new journey, paving the way with their youth and illuminating their ideals.

Xi Jinping emphasized that the Communist Party of China’s 105-year history is a source of great pride, yet we must never become complacent or stand still. By the middle of this century, we will have fully built a strong socialist modern country and achieved the Second Centenary Goal. All Party members must remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind; we must be modest and prudent, work hard and strive for progress; and we must dare to struggle and be adept at struggling. We must closely rely on and unite all the people of China’s various ethnic groups, forge ahead on the new journey, make contributions in the new era, and strive to create new historic achievements.

While presiding over the conference, Li Qiang pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech comprehensively reviewed and summarized the glorious journey and great achievements of the Communist Party of China over the past 105 years in uniting and leading the people of all ethnic groups across the country. It profoundly elucidated the outstanding qualities that have enabled the CPC to continuously forge new heights of success, set forth clear requirements for all CPC members as they embark on a new journey to strengthen their confidence and carry forward the struggle, and issued a powerful call to the entire Party to strive tirelessly to create new historic splendor. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s address is marked by lofty vision, profound thought, and rich substance, further charting the course and providing guiding principles for fulfilling the Party’s central tasks in the new era and on the new journey. All Party members must study and thoroughly grasp its spirit, earnestly translate it into concrete actions in all areas of work, carry forward the great spirit of Party building, remain true to our original aspiration and mission, and make unremitting efforts to advance the cause of national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
