Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States and Deputy Director of the Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Affairs, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, extended a warm welcome to Xu Yi and his delegation. The meeting was attended by Zhang Guangfu, Deputy Secretary-General.
Xu Yi explained that the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital was founded in 1952 and underwent a transformation in 2022. It is now a national Grade II-A TCM hospital, providing medical care and public health services to nearly one million residents in its jurisdiction. The hospital operates under a “1+1+3” management model, with 400 authorized beds, strong talent and equipment capabilities, and leading positions in Chongqing for digitalization in TCM. Currently, the hospital is focusing on innovative development in TCM, actively exploring new models such as livestream e-commerce for TCM products, unmanned TCM operations, at-home medical services, TCM-infused teas, and the integration of cultural tourism with healthcare. It also plans to establish overseas bases for the cultivation and processing of TCM materials. The hospital hopes to leverage the platform to connect with relevant working committees, think tanks, and expert academicians in the TCM field, thereby exploring and advancing the establishment of a TCM cultivation and processing base in Pakistan, which will help promote the internationalization of TCM and foster health industry cooperation among SCO member states.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform is committed to upholding the “Shanghai Spirit” and thoroughly implementing the resolutions adopted at previous Councils of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Centered on the core mission of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital and traditional economies,” the platform leverages industry-specific working committees to bring together market entities of diverse ownership structures, thereby fostering an industrial collaborative innovation ecosystem in SCO member states led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain leaders.” This initiative aims to support local governments in attracting investment and business, break down barriers to cooperation among enterprises of different ownership types, explore the establishment of “SCO standards,” and lay the foundation for a global realignment of productive forces.
Zhang Guangfu chaired the symposium and outlined the platform’s innovative operational model and its achievements in construction and development, with a particular focus on sharing successful cases of international cooperation involving the platform’s relevant working committees. Daya from the Platform’s Project Expansion Department also attended the meeting. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics of mutual interest.
Liu Sheng, a member of the Party Committee of the Zhongjiang New Area Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, along with Huang Yali, Director of the Nursing Department; Zeng Liyan, Head of Acupuncture Department I; Chang Jinhong, Deputy Director of the Science and Education Department; and Zhang Shumin, a key staff member of the Science and Education Department, attended the meeting.
