Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States and Deputy Director of the Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Affairs, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, extended a warm welcome to Xue Zhu and his delegation. The meeting was attended by Wang Jianping, Deputy Secretary-General, and Xiong Shaohua, Vice President of the Chongqing Municipal CPPCC Academy of Calligraphy and Painting.
Xue Zhu listened to a briefing on the platform and gained a thorough understanding of its development and progress. She stated that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a vital force in promoting regional multilateral cooperation and fostering development and prosperity. As an important bridge and platform for advancing subnational economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges among SCO member states, the platform has achieved a series of pragmatic results in promoting industrial cooperation and cultural and humanitarian exchanges through the innovative operation of its sectoral working committees, thereby playing a positive role. She encouraged the platform to remain committed to the grand goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind, to firmly uphold the “four confidences,” and to leverage China’s strengths in culture, institutions, and industry, so as to contribute more Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to regional cooperation within the SCO and to work together with other SCO member states to build an even closer SCO community with a shared future.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform is committed to upholding the “Shanghai Spirit” and thoroughly implementing the resolutions adopted at previous Councils of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Centered on the core mission of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital and traditional economies,” the platform leverages industry-specific working committees to bring together market entities of diverse ownership structures, thereby fostering an industrial collaborative innovation ecosystem in SCO member states led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain-leading” firms. This initiative aims to support local governments in attracting investment and business, break down barriers to cooperation among enterprises of different ownership types, explore the establishment of “SCO standards,” and lay the foundation for a global realignment of productive forces.
Wang Jianping chaired the symposium and outlined the platform’s innovative operational model and its achievements in construction and development, with a particular focus on sharing successful cases of international cooperation by the platform’s relevant working committees. The two sides then engaged in an exchange of views on topics such as leveraging culture and the arts as a bridge to promote economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges among Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.
