BEIJING, March 18 (Xinhua) — On the afternoon of March 18, Chinese President Xi Jinping met at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Leader of the Nation and Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, who is on a friendly visit to China.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China’s Two Sessions were recently held successfully, during which the Outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan was reviewed and approved. The implementation of this outline will lay a solid foundation for China to basically achieve socialist modernization and will also benefit all countries of the world. Over the 35 years since its independence, Turkmenistan has embarked on a path of independent and self-reliant development that is well-suited to its national conditions. At the outset of the Year of the Horse, China stands ready to work with Turkmenistan to jointly formulate major cooperation initiatives, share development opportunities, and continuously deepen and substantiate the building of a China–Turkmenistan community with a shared future.

Xi Jinping emphasized that mutual support is the very essence of the China–Turkey Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Regardless of how the international situation evolves, China will always support Turkey in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; will always support Turkey in pursuing a policy of permanent neutrality; and will always be a trustworthy partner for Turkey. The two sides should accelerate the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with Turkey’s “Revival of the Silk Road” strategy, expand cooperation in the natural gas sector, elevate trade and investment, and broaden collaboration in non-resource areas such as connectivity, agriculture, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and clean energy. They should also expedite the establishment of Luban Workshops, TCM centers, and mutually established cultural centers, thereby forging a new pattern of all-round cooperation. Furthermore, they must resolutely combat the “three forces of evil” to build a robust security shield for the development of both countries. In the face of an ever-growing array of global challenges, China stands ready to work with Turkey to firmly uphold the status and authority of the United Nations, practice true multilateralism, and adhere to the vision of global governance based on extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, using the principles of fairness, justice, openness, and inclusiveness to lead the transformation of global governance.

Berdimuhamedov stated that he was delighted to visit the great nation of China and extended his congratulations on the successful conclusion of China’s Two Sessions, which have made major strategic decisions and arrangements for the development of all undertakings. China’s prosperity and development benefit the entire world; when China prospers, the world will be better off. Under the personal guidance of President Xi Jinping, China–Turkmenistan friendly relations have developed rapidly and steadily, with close exchanges between legislative bodies and political parties and rich, multifaceted cooperation across various fields, reaching the high level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. China–Turkmenistan cooperation has become an important positive factor in the economic and social development of both countries and is in the long-term interests of their peoples. The Turkmen side will, as always, steadfastly uphold the One-China principle, stand ready to strengthen alignment of development strategies with China, expand pragmatic cooperation in such areas as energy, trade, and connectivity, jointly pursue development and prosperity, and jointly promote security and stability. The Turkmen side expresses its gratitude for China’s support for Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality, highly commends the four global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping as a world-class leader, and appreciates China’s consistent adherence to a just position in international affairs. The Turkmen side stands ready to enhance coordination and collaboration with China on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and the China–Central Asia mechanism, so as to jointly safeguard regional and global peace and stability.
