SANTIAGO, March 11 (Xinhua) — At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Chile, Ni Hong, Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping and Minister of Housing and Urban–Rural Development, attended the Chilean Presidential Inauguration Ceremony in Valparaíso, the seat of the Chilean Congress, on March 11 local time. On March 10, he met separately with Chile’s President‑elect Gabriel Boric and outgoing President Gabriel Boric in the capital, Santiago.
Ni Hong conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings and best wishes to Castor, stating that China is willing to work with Chile’s new government to carry forward the tradition of friendship and further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Chile. Castor thanked President Xi Jinping for sending an envoy to travel thousands of miles to Chile to attend the handover ceremony, and asked Ni Hong to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping. He emphasized that developing relations with China and adhering to the One-China Principle are fundamental national policies of Chile, and that the new government will continue this diplomatic tradition. The Chilean side attaches great importance to China–Chile relations and is eager to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in areas such as trade, investment, science and technology, housing development, health and wellness, and disease prevention and control.
Ni Hong conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to Boric and spoke highly of the positive contributions Boric has made during his tenure in advancing China–Chile relations. Boric asked Ni Hong to extend his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, stating that China is an important partner for Chile and expressing his hope that relations between the two countries will continue to develop further.
