Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform and Deputy Director of the Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese, and Foreign Affairs of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, welcomed Alexey Mikhailovich Zarechensky and his delegation. Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Guangfu accompanied the meeting.

Alexei Zarechensky listened to a briefing on the development of the platform and expressed his appreciation for the platform’s positive role in promoting local economic and trade cooperation as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges among Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states. He highlighted the basic information about the Moscow Aviation Institute, a national research university founded in 1930 with a long history and deep-rooted expertise in various fields. As one of Moscow’s leading institutions of higher engineering education, the Moscow Aviation Institute has been at the forefront of advancing aviation technology—not only in Russia but also globally since its establishment. The university boasts more than 250 chief designers in the aerospace industry, 50 members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 22 astronauts, 100 test pilots, and 60 Olympic champions. Many of Russia’s renowned national academicians, scientists, and celebrated astronauts have graduated from the Aviation Institute. Meanwhile, the Moscow Aviation Institute is also the Russian partner in the China-Russia Alliance of Engineering Universities. Alexei Zarechensky noted that the educational consortium established by the platform has built a bridge for international educational cooperation between Russia, China, and other SCO countries, achieving fruitful results in educational and academic exchanges. He expressed his hope to establish cooperative exchanges with the platform’s educational consortium and the aerospace departments of its prominent member institutions, further deepening cooperation between Russia and China in higher education and academic research, and cultivating more high-level talents for the development of the aerospace industries in both countries.

Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform remains committed to promoting the “Shanghai Spirit” and earnestly implementing the resolutions adopted by the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member countries. Focusing on the core task of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital economy and the traditional economy,” the platform, through its industry working committees, brings together market entities of various ownership structures to foster an innovative industrial synergy ecosystem in SCO countries, led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain leaders.” This initiative aims to assist local governments in attracting investment and to break down barriers to cooperation among enterprises of different ownership types, while exploring the establishment of “SCO standards” to lay the foundation for a global realignment of productive forces. He emphasized that strengthening international educational exchanges and cooperation is an important consensus among the heads of state of the SCO member countries. In recent years, the platform’s Education Working Alliance has played a significant role in advancing international educational cooperation and cultural exchanges among SCO countries, yielding a series of practical and landmark achievements. The platform is willing to support cooperation between the Moscow Aviation Institute and the platform’s Education Alliance as well as its affiliated institutions, thereby playing a positive role in jointly building a closer SCO community with a shared future.

Zhang Guangfu chaired the symposium and introduced the platform’s innovative operational model as well as its achievements in construction and development. He focused on sharing successful cases of international cooperation involving the platform’s relevant working committees. Daya, from the platform’s project expansion department, also attended the symposium. Both sides engaged in an in-depth exchange on topics of mutual concern.
