Hu Kaiqiang, Director General of the Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States and Deputy Director of the Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, welcomed Wang Jiachang and his delegation. Zhang Guangfu, Deputy Secretary-General, accompanied the meeting.
Wang Jiachang introduced that the Shenzhen Institute of Peking University, established in 2007, is one of the first members introduced to Shenzhen’s Virtual University Park and belongs to a new type of R&D institution. Relying on Peking University’s strengths in basic research across science, engineering, and medicine, and in light of the industrial development needs of Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta region, the institute conducts research aimed at tackling core technologies. It also undertakes the task of cultivating high-end scientific and technological talents and promotes the incubation of new technologies for industrial application. The institute is committed to translating and disseminating Peking University’s research achievements in Shenzhen, thereby serving both the regional economy and national strategies. It looks forward to strengthening exchanges with the platform, integrating high-quality resources from government, industry, academia, research, and application sectors, exploring ways to support local economic and trade development, and fostering international cooperation and exchange.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform remains committed to promoting the “Shanghai Spirit” and thoroughly implementing the resolutions adopted by the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member countries. Focusing on the core task of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital economy and the traditional economy,” the platform leverages industry working committees to bring together market entities of various ownership structures, thereby fostering a collaborative innovation ecosystem in the SCO countries led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain leaders.” This initiative supports local governments in attracting investment and seeks to break down barriers to cooperation among enterprises of different ownership types, exploring the establishment of “SCO standards” and laying the foundation for a global realignment of productive forces.
Zhang Guangfu chaired the symposium and introduced the platform’s innovative operational model as well as its achievements in construction and development. He highlighted successful cases of international cooperation involving the platform’s relevant working committees. Daya, from the platform’s project expansion department, also attended the meeting. Both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics of mutual interest.
