Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 23 — On February 23, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, sent a telegram to Kim Jong-un, congratulating him on his election as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea at the 9th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
In his congratulatory message, Xi Jinping stated that since the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, led by General Secretary Kim Jong-un, has united and led the Korean people in their tireless efforts, continuously achieving new accomplishments in the cause of socialist construction in Korea. The re-election of Comrade Kim Jong-un as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea reflects the high degree of trust and heartfelt support that the Party, the government, and the people of Korea have for the General Secretary. The successful convening of the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea at a crucial juncture when the Party and the country are poised to carry forward the past and usher in a new era is of great significance. We wish that under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, led by the General Secretary, the Party and the people of Korea will seize this opportunity to continuously open up new prospects for the cause of socialism in Korea.
China and North Korea are socialist friendly neighbors that stand in mutual support. Upholding, consolidating, and developing China-DPRK relations has always been an unwavering principle of the Chinese Party and government. In recent years, I have met with Comrade General Secretary on numerous occasions, providing strong guidance to steer China-DPRK relations toward even better development. Faced with a rapidly evolving global landscape marked by profound and complex changes and an intricate interplay of international uncertainties, I am willing to work together with Comrade General Secretary to guide the relevant departments and local authorities on both sides in fully implementing the important consensus we have reached, thus writing a new chapter in China-DPRK friendship, serving the cause of socialist construction in both countries, enhancing the well-being and friendship between our peoples, and making positive contributions to promoting peace, stability, and development and prosperity in the region and beyond.
