On February 8, 2026, the finals of the 3rd “Gushengtang Cup” National Huangdi Neijing Knowledge Competition (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”) concluded successfully in Wuhan. Feng Dingxiang, Secretary-General of the Competition’s Organizing Committee and Secretary-General of the Digital Intelligence Traditional Chinese Medicine Standardization Working Committee under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multi-functional Economic and Trade Platform, stated that after years of development, the Competition has become a landmark event in China’s TCM field—a platform for promoting learning, teaching, and cultural transmission through competition. Building on the Competition’s existing successful experience, he proposed leveraging the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multi-functional Economic and Trade Platform (hereinafter referred to as the “Platform”) to actively promote the Competition onto the international stage.
To deeply implement the strategic consensus reached by the heads of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on strengthening international cooperation in traditional medicine and to promote the internationalization, standardization, and digitalization of Chinese medicine, the platform has expressed its support for the internationalization development application submitted by the competition’s organizing committee. Furthermore, the platform has officially appointed a group of senior experts and scholars from China’s traditional medicine field as think-tank experts, providing robust intellectual support for the competition’s expansion into SCO member countries and global markets.
Currently, traditional medicine has become a key area of health and wellness cooperation under the SCO framework. Under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of member countries, international cooperation in traditional medicine is gradually rising to become a priority focus of SCO collaboration. Adhering to the “Shanghai Spirit,” the platform actively implements the important initiatives proposed by the Heads of State Council and promotes practical cooperation in the health and wellness sector. Since 2025, the platform has successively established several working committees covering areas such as digital and intelligent health in traditional Chinese medicine, innovation in precision medicine, sustainable development in health, and standardization of digital and intelligent TCM. These committees are driving deep integration among medicine, industry, and applications, pooling industry wisdom, breaking down disciplinary barriers, and exploring new pathways for internationalized, standardized, and digital development in the health and wellness field among SCO member states.
In 2026, we will embark on a new journey. The platform will fully leverage its unique advantages as a bridge and conduit for cooperation among SCO member states, systematically integrating high-quality resources in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine and health care. We will continue to explore new models and pathways for international cooperation between China and other member countries in the field of TCM, pragmatically promoting the global outreach of TCM and traditional Chinese medicine, and helping to achieve internationalization, branding, and standardization. In doing so, we will contribute fresh impetus to building a closer SCO community of health and well-being.
