To thoroughly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of State Summit on strengthening regional cooperation, to uphold and promote the “Shanghai Spirit,” and to earnestly advance major national strategies such as high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, we will fully leverage the unique advantages of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform as an international economic and trade platform within the SCO multilateral framework. Drawing on Jiangjin’s strategic location as Chongqing’s primary hub along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and as a key component of Chongqing’s main urban area, as well as its distinctive industrial strengths as a nationally prominent motorcycle‑industry cluster, we will deepen pragmatic exchanges and cooperation between Jiangjin District and SCO member states and countries along the Belt and Road in areas including industrial modernization, technological innovation, and the integration of culture and tourism. By doing so, we will more deeply integrate into the overarching national strategy for opening up the inland regions, systematically build a modern, open urban economic system, and forge Jiangjin into a flagship city of openness for the SCO and Belt and Road partner countries, as well as a new model for mutually beneficial cooperation in the inland region. To this end, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the People’s Government of Jiangjin District, Chongqing.
Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform and Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese, and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, along with Feng Zaiwen, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy District Mayor of the Jiangjin District People’s Government of Chongqing, attended the signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, the two parties will establish a coordinated working mechanism and set up a platform together with the Jiangjin District SCO Working Group. Leveraging Jiangjin District’s strengths in high-end motorcycle manufacturing, the integrated development of motor‑vehicle sports and cultural tourism, and the needs of countries along the Belt and Road Initiative and the New International Land–Sea Trade Corridor for advancing their automotive and motorcycle industries, they will establish relevant working committees to foster extensive exchanges and close cooperation with SCO member states and Belt and Road countries in areas such as industrial collaboration, international event management, expansion of foreign trade markets, cultural‑tourism integration, industry‑academia‑research‑education‑practice integration, and people‑to‑people and sports exchanges. In particular, the two sides will prioritize the implementation of cooperative projects, including hosting an SCO‑affiliated international motocross event, with the aim of creating an internationally recognized motorcycle racing series that embodies both SCO characteristics and Jiangjin’s distinctive identity.
Officials from the platform secretariat, the Jiangjin District Culture and Tourism Commission, the Sports Bureau, and other relevant departments attended.
