On September 1, 2026, under the auspices of the Education Working Alliance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform, a delegation from the Malaysian Association of Early Childhood Education Professionals visited Chongqing to conduct a specialized fact-finding mission and exchange on preschool education, thereby contributing to enhanced cultural and educational exchanges along the Belt and Road.
This delegation, composed of experts and scholars from Malaysia’s early childhood education sector, visited several member institutions of the SCO Economic and Trade Platform’s Education Working Alliance, including Sichuan International Studies University, Chongqing Women’s Vocational Senior High School, Chongqing Banan Bashu Kindergarten, and Jinde Kaiton Kindergarten. Focusing on key issues such as preschool‑education talent development, curriculum‑system design, teacher professional growth, and institutional management, the group conducted an in-depth field study of Chongqing’s achievements in preschool‑education practice through site visits, classroom observations, and roundtable discussions.
During the visit, the delegation gained first-hand insights into the kindergarten’s environment design, daily activity planning, implementation of play-based teaching, and a pre‑service talent‑development model that integrates job‑based training, curriculum, competitions, and certification. They engaged in practical exchanges with institutional administrators and frontline early‑childhood educators on topics such as children’s physical and psychological development, home–school collaboration, and pre‑service and in‑service teacher professional development. The delegation highly commended Chongqing’s achievements in curriculum innovation and teacher‑training, and, in light of Malaysia’s local early‑childhood education landscape, explored pathways for translating these experiences into practice.
Both sides unanimously agreed that preschool education serves as an important bridge for fostering mutual understanding and goodwill. With regard to future cooperation, the parties exchanged views on areas such as teacher training, reciprocal faculty visits, inter‑school exchanges, joint research and development, and the sharing of high‑quality educational resources, and reached a preliminary consensus on deepening their long-term collaboration.
This event has established a platform for dialogue between China and Malaysia in the field of early childhood education. Moving forward, the Education Working Alliance of the Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states will continue to serve as a bridge, fostering the expansion of practical cooperation projects between the two countries, promoting mutual learning and exchange, and jointly contributing to the high-quality development of early childhood education in both China and Malaysia.
