BEIJING, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) — On the afternoon of September 7, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Li Qiang stated that Qatar is an important strategic partner of China in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Emir Tamim, the China–Qatar strategic partnership has maintained steady development, with political mutual trust continuously strengthened and mutually beneficial cooperation yielding fruitful results. China stands ready to work together with Qatar to further enhance communication and coordination, firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests, and advance bilateral relations in a more substantive and pragmatic manner, so as to better benefit the peoples of both countries.
Li Qiang stated that China stands ready to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Qatar, jointly advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and deepen collaboration in such fields as traditional energy, new energy, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and finance, so as to achieve a higher level of mutually beneficial outcomes. China welcomes Qatar’s active investment in China and supports more Chinese enterprises in investing in Qatar, thereby enhancing the quality and efficiency of two-way investment. It also hopes that Qatar will continue to provide a favorable environment for Chinese businesses and ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects operating in Qatar. Both sides should further bolster people-to-people and cultural exchanges in areas such as culture, education, and giant panda conservation and research, thus fostering greater mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. In the current complex and volatile international landscape, as both China and Qatar are developing countries, they should strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation to promote the establishment of a more just and equitable global governance system. China supports Qatar in playing a mediating and facilitative role in addressing the situation in the Middle East, and stands ready to work tirelessly alongside Qatar and other regional countries, as well as the international community, to help the region restore peace and stability at an early date.
Mohammed stated that the Qatari side highly values its relations with China, and that the two countries have consistently upheld mutual trust and mutual respect, achieving mutually beneficial outcomes. In 2014, Emir Tamim and President Xi Jinping jointly announced the establishment of a Qatar–China strategic partnership. Since then, political mutual trust between the two countries has continued to strengthen, and cooperation in such fields as energy, investment, industry, infrastructure, and cultural exchanges has yielded fruitful results, ushering in a “golden era” in bilateral relations. The Qatari side stands ready to work with China to enhance exchanges at all levels, deepen practical cooperation in areas such as trade and economics, high‑tech industries, and advanced manufacturing, and jointly embark on the next “golden decade” of bilateral ties. Qatar also expresses its gratitude and appreciation to China for its efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East. Qatar remains committed to resolving conflicts through dialogue and restoring regional peace.
