DEZHOU, Shandong, June 24 (Xinhua) — While conducting an inspection in Dezhou City, Shandong Province, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized on the 24th that the modernization of agriculture and rural areas is integral to the overall vision and quality of Chinese-style modernization. He called for solid measures to advance all tasks, focusing on enhancing agricultural productivity and improving quality and efficiency, ensuring a stable supply of grain and other key agricultural products, promoting the development of livable and business‑friendly beautiful villages tailored to local conditions, and guiding the broad masses of farmers to create a better life through hard work and ingenuity.

It is the peak of the summer planting season, and the fields are bustling with activity. On the morning of the 24th, Xi Jinping visited Dongyujia Village, Bianlin Town, Lingcheng District, Dezhou City, where he listened to a briefing on local “Sanxia” production efforts and learned about wheat yields, corn planting, and the supply of agricultural inputs. He inspected integrated water‑fertilizer facilities along an irrigation canal and then went into the fields to engage in cordial discussions with large-scale grain farmers, machinery operators, and agricultural technicians. Upon learning that this year’s wheat yield per mu has once again increased and that corn sowing is proceeding on schedule and at a rapid pace, Xi Jinping expressed his satisfaction. He emphasized that ensuring a stable supply of grain and other key agricultural products is the top priority of agricultural production. He called for the full implementation of policies supporting grain production, the effective assurance of adequate supplies and stable prices of agricultural inputs, the vigorous promotion of advanced and suitable varieties, technologies, and equipment, and the steady enhancement of both yield per unit area and overall economic returns, with the aim of securing a bumper harvest for the year. He also urged improvements to agricultural infrastructure, rigorous quality control in the construction of high-standard farmland, the advancement of water‑saving and efficiency‑enhancing practices, and the strengthening of weather forecasting, disaster monitoring, and early warning systems to bolster the capacity of agriculture to prevent, mitigate, and respond to disasters.

Subsequently, Xi Jinping visited Xiyujia Village, a “National Civilized Village” located nearby. He entered the village’s Party‑and‑Mass Service Center, where he inquired in detail about the development of the village’s Party organization and the provision of convenient public services, learned about local efforts to advance rural revitalization through a regional‑based approach, and inspected an exhibition of agricultural and sideline products. Xi Jinping expressed his hope that the village Party organization would further leverage its leadership role, fully mobilize the enthusiasm of villagers, and continue to achieve new successes in building a beautiful countryside that is both livable and conducive to business. He also called for sustained efforts to reduce burdens at the grassroots level, enabling village officials to devote more time and energy to serving the people and promoting development.

At villager Yu Xinhui’s home, Xi Jinping inspected the household furnishings, sat with the family to chat informally, and inquired with genuine concern about their employment and income, the health of elderly relatives, and their children’s education. He also sought a detailed understanding of whether the Party’s policies on agriculture, rural areas, and farmers had been fully implemented. He emphasized that cultivating and practicing a correct view of official achievements ultimately means delivering tangible benefits to the people. All Party members and cadres must strengthen their sense of public service, nurture deep affection for the people, do more practical good deeds, address real problems, and resolve pressing difficulties, thereby genuinely enhancing the people’s sense of gain, happiness, and security.

As they departed the village, the villagers warmly saw off the General Secretary. Xi Jinping told them, “With July 1 just around the corner, we are about to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of our Party. Over the past 105 years, our Party has united and led the people of all ethnic groups across the country in tireless endeavor, achieving great accomplishments that stand as a testament to both history and the people. Today, we are striding forward on a new journey toward fully building a modern socialist country. We must join forces to forge ahead on this new Long March, usher in an even brighter future, and continue to meet the people’s aspirations for a better life.” He wished the villagers that, under the leadership of the Party, they would make their hometown ever more beautiful and their lives ever better.
