BEIJING, May 20 (Xinhua) — On the evening of May 20, President Xi Jinping held a tea meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping pointed out that over the years, he has maintained frequent exchanges with President Vladimir Putin, jointly guiding the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era to grow ever deeper and more substantive, further strengthening the bonds of good-neighborly friendship between the two countries, and pioneering a new model of major-country relations based on mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation—thus continuously injecting valuable stability into a world fraught with turbulence and uncertainty. Today, he and President Putin have once again reached new important consensus on advancing the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination. Those who act achieve; those who persevere arrive. He is confident that, through the unremitting efforts of both sides, China-Russia relations will surely sustain their momentum of high-quality development, make steady progress, and reach even greater heights.
President Putin stated that this visit was pragmatic and highly effective, yielding substantial results. Together with President Xi Jinping, he reviewed the development of Russia–China relations, engaged in in-depth exchanges on a wide range of issues, and identified clear directions for the next phase of bilateral cooperation, thereby helping to ensure that Russia–China ties continue to enjoy robust momentum. The Russian side looks forward to maintaining close communication with China, strengthening strategic coordination, and making new contributions to world peace and prosperity through the certainty and stability of Russia–China relations.
The two heads of state also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other issues.
