Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States and Deputy Director of the Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Affairs, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, extended a warm welcome to Ren Qiang and his delegation. The meeting was attended by Zhang Guangfu, Deputy Secretary-General, and Kuang Zhengping, Senior Advisor to the Platform’s Think Tank.
Ren Qiang provided an overview of the Expo Group’s development, core strengths, and business strategy. He noted that the Expo Group, a key state-owned cultural enterprise in Sichuan Province and formerly known as the Sichuan Expo Administration, underwent restructuring in 2019 and has since focused on its core exhibition and convention business. The Group has established a development model characterized by vertical integration across the entire exhibition industry value chain and horizontal expansion into cross-regional collaborations. It serves as the principal organizer of major events such as the China West International Fair, and has accumulated extensive experience and robust capabilities in international exhibition planning, organization and execution, and brand management. In addition, the Group has well-defined development plans and resource advantages in areas such as facilitating capital matchmaking and supporting enterprises’ global expansion, with the aim of serving as a vital bridge for economic and trade exchanges between Sichuan and the rest of the world. Ren Qiang expressed the hope that the Group will deepen collaboration with the platform in three key areas—international exhibition cooperation, capital matchmaking services, and support for enterprises’ overseas expansion—leveraging the platform’s international resource advantages and the Expo Group’s strong exhibition operations expertise to jointly develop distinctive exhibition brands targeted at SCO member states, build bridges for connecting capital with industry, and help Sichuan-based companies as well as enterprises from SCO countries expand their markets and achieve mutual empowerment.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform is committed to upholding the “Shanghai Spirit” and thoroughly implementing the resolutions adopted at previous Councils of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Centered on the core mission of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital and traditional economies,” the platform leverages industry-specific working committees to bring together market entities of diverse ownership structures, thereby fostering an industrial collaborative innovation ecosystem in SCO member states led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain-leading” firms. This initiative aims to support local governments in attracting investment and business, break down barriers to cooperation among enterprises of different ownership types, explore the establishment of “SCO standards,” and lay the foundation for a global realignment of productive forces.
Zhang Guangfu chaired the symposium and outlined the platform’s innovative operational model and its achievements in construction and development, with a particular focus on sharing successful cases of international cooperation involving the platform’s relevant working committees. Qiu Rong from the Platform’s Project Expansion Department also attended the meeting. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics of mutual interest.
Attending the meeting were Liao Kui, Head of the Asset and Finance Department of BoLan Group and Chairman of BoLan Investment Company; Zhang Nihua, Senior Manager of the Group’s Planning and Operations Department and Director of BoLan Investment Company; Zu Xu, Deputy General Manager of BoLan Investment Company; Tu Rui, Chairman of Sichuan Yangtze Economic and Trade Development Co., Ltd.; Ren Luyao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of BoLan Group; Wang Xinyi from the Investment Management Department of BoLan Investment Company, along with other relevant personnel.
