Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States and Deputy Director of the Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Affairs, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, extended a warm welcome to Huang Shanshan and her delegation. The meeting was attended by Wang Jianping, Deputy Secretary-General.
Huang Shanshan highly commended the platform’s positive achievements in fostering the deep integration of the digital economy with the traditional economy and in building a collaborative innovation ecosystem for industrial development among SCO member states. Drawing on her research and practical experience in areas such as digital transformation of smart cities, sustainable development, and digital government construction, she pointed out that the global digital transformation is accelerating the reshaping of governance frameworks, underscoring the urgent need to strengthen collaborative innovation at the policy, technological, and standards levels across borders. She outlined her work in promoting Sino–UK exchanges on digital technology innovation through the Cambridge China Forum and expressed the hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to leverage the platform’s multilateral cooperation mechanisms to deepen collaboration in such areas as digital government development, mutual recognition of smart city standards, and the integration of industry, academia, and research, thereby helping SCO member states achieve inclusive and sustainable development in the face of the digital wave.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform is committed to upholding the “Shanghai Spirit” and thoroughly implementing the resolutions adopted at previous Councils of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Centered on the core mission of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital and traditional economies,” the platform leverages industry-specific working committees to bring together market entities of diverse ownership structures, thereby fostering an industrial synergy and innovation ecosystem among SCO member states led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain leaders.” This initiative aims to support local governments in attracting investment, break down barriers to cooperation among enterprises of different ownership types, explore the establishment of “SCO standards,” and lay the foundation for a global realignment of productive forces.
Wang Jianping chaired the symposium and outlined the platform’s innovative operational model and its achievements in construction and development, with a particular focus on sharing successful cases of international cooperation involving the platform’s relevant working committees. The two sides then engaged in an in-depth exchange on topics of mutual interest.
