Hu Kaiqiang, Director General of the Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States and Deputy Director of the Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese, and Foreign Affairs of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, welcomed Yu Qi and his delegation. Wang Jianping, Deputy Secretary-General, accompanied the meeting.
Yu Qi introduced the development and construction status of the Chongqing Municipal Institute of Population and Family Planning Research (hereinafter referred to as “the Institute”). The Institute is a first-class, public-interest, sub-department-level research institution approved by the Chongqing Municipal Institutional Establishment Committee. It primarily conducts research on population development strategies, health and wellness policies, and related work; undertakes basic and applied scientific research in maternal and child health fields such as birth defects, family planning, eugenics and prenatal care, and reproductive health; provides public services including technical guidance and services in family planning and reproductive health, management of birth defect prevention and control, and laboratory biosafety management; and offers scientific and technological services covering clinical techniques for maternal and child health, medical and forensic examinations, genetic testing, and the collection, storage, and supply of human semen samples. She emphasized that, as an institution in Chongqing specializing in population development, maternal and child health, and adolescent mental health research and services, the Institute boasts a solid professional foundation and extensive practical experience. She expressed hope that, leveraging its platform’s international connections and resource advantages, the Institute could capitalize on its professional strengths to initiate the establishment of a working committee focused on psychological assistance for adolescents. Together, they could explore international cooperation in the field of adolescent mental health among Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries, thereby contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to the healthy development of adolescents across various regions.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform remains committed to promoting the “Shanghai Spirit” and thoroughly implementing the resolutions adopted by the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member countries. Focusing on the core task of “building a new SCO ecosystem that deeply integrates the digital economy with the traditional economy,” the platform leverages industry working committees to bring together market entities of various ownership structures, thereby fostering a collaborative innovation ecosystem in the SCO countries led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain leaders.” This initiative supports local governments in attracting investment and seeks to break down barriers to cooperation among enterprises of different ownership types, exploring the establishment of “SCO standards” and laying the foundation for a global realignment of productive forces.
Wang Jianping chaired the symposium and introduced the platform’s innovative operational model as well as its achievements in construction and development. He focused on sharing successful cases of international cooperation involving the platform’s relevant working committees. Both sides engaged in an in-depth exchange on topics of mutual concern. Chen Liang, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Institute for Population and Family Planning, and Luo Jie, Director of the Municipal Center for Mental Health Services for Children and Adolescents and Director of the Women and Children’s Mental Health Center at the Municipal Institute for Population and Family Planning, each delivered remarks.
Zhang Jie, director of the affiliated hospital of the Municipal Institute of Population and Family Planning, He Nannan, deputy secretary of the Party branch, Li Can, a specialist in legal education, and Yang Xiaoling, a specialist in experiential training education, attended the meeting.
