The Platform Green and Low-Carbon Industry-Education Community held its first Board of Directors Meeting and Renewable Energy Technology Forum for 2026.

On January 17, 2026, the first international industry-education integration community—“The Shanghai Cooperation Organization National Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform International Green and Low-Carbon Industry Industry-Education Integration Community” (hereinafter referred to as “the Community”), initiated and established under the leadership of the Education Working Alliance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization National Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform (hereinafter referred to as “the SCO ETP”), successfully held its first Council Meeting for 2026 and the “Renewable Energy Technology Application” Forum at the Tongnan Campus of Chongqing College of Electric Power. The event was hosted by the School of Power Engineering of Chongqing College of Electric Power and aimed at promoting deep integration between industry and education in the green and low-carbon sector, thereby supporting the green economic and social transformation of the SCO member countries.

Deng Rui, former first-level inspector of the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, president of the Chongqing Association for International Educational Exchange, and chairman of the Education Working Alliance of the SCO Economic and Trade Platform; Zhang Guangfu, deputy secretary-general of the SCO Economic and Trade Platform and special envoy of the Alliance; Hu Bin, former second-level inspector of the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and chairman of the Community’s Board of Directors; Zheng Zhoulun, president of Chongqing College of Construction Engineering; Zhang Jiajun, president of Guizhou College of Economics and Trade Technology; Chen Shaomin, member of the Party Committee and vice president of Chongqing Higher Specialized School of Electric Power; Li Zhengguo, director of the Institute of Carbon Neutrality Technology at Shenzhen Polytechnic University—along with other leaders, experts, representatives from member units of the Community, and specially invited guests—jointly attended this event.

Secretary-General Mao Delin of the Community chaired the Board of Directors meeting. Chairman Hu Bin delivered a work summary report, systematically reviewing the progress and achievements made since the establishment of the Community. Representatives from Chongqing College of Electric Power, Guizhou College of Economics and Trade Technology, Chongqing College of Water Resources and Electric Power, Chongqing College of Resource and Environmental Protection, and the Chongqing Municipal Energy Utilization Monitoring Center shared their experiences in areas such as green and low-carbon specialty development, industry-university cooperation, and talent cultivation. The meeting reviewed and adopted the Community’s 2026 Work Plan and voted to approve the proposal to establish the “Shanghai Cooperation Organization Countries’ Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform—International Green and Low-Carbon Construction Industry Integration of Industry and Education Community (Sub-Community).” Additionally, Chongqing College of Civil Engineering was added as a Vice-Chairman unit of the Community, taking the lead in spearheading the establishment of the Sub-Community.

The “Renewable Energy Technology Application” forum, held concurrently, was chaired by Li Zhengguo, Director of the Carbon Neutrality Technology Research Institute at Shenzhen Vocational and Technical University. Li Tao, Chairman of Chongqing Hydrogen Tong New Energy Research Institute Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech titled “Current Status and Industry Trends in China’s Hydrogen Energy Development,” offering an in-depth analysis of hydrogen energy industry policies, technologies, and market prospects. Zhang Haiya, former Assistant General Manager and Senior Engineer at CSSC Haizhuang Wind Power Co., Ltd., discussed “The Development of the Wind Power Industry Under the Post-Parity Market Conditions,” exploring technological innovations and cost-reduction strategies for the wind power sector. Chen Jinhua, Director of the Department of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering at Chongqing University, focused on “The Application of Renewable Energy in Buildings,” presenting practical case studies and highlighting the development potential of solar and geothermal energy in building energy conservation. The presentations by these three experts were rich in content and forward-looking in perspective, providing attendees with valuable industry insights and inspiring opportunities for collaboration.

The successful holding of this conference and forum marks a substantive step forward for the SCO economic and trade platform in promoting the integration of green, low-carbon development with vocational education among SCO member states. It has further strengthened consensus among all parties and clarified the direction for future cooperation. The community will continue to leverage the platform’s advantages to foster the organic alignment of the education chain, talent chain, industrial chain, and innovation chain, thereby contributing the “SCO strength” to advancing regional green and sustainable development and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
