Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, January 8 — The Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting throughout the day on January 8 to hear work reports from the Party groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People's Court, and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, as well as a work report from the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech.

The meeting pointed out that the Party Central Committee’s practice of listening to work reports from the Party groups of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People’s Court, and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, as well as the work report from the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, is an important measure for upholding and improving the Party’s leadership system and ensuring that the Party Central Committee’s centralized and unified leadership is effectively implemented in all areas, aspects, and links of national governance. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China’s development environment will face profound and complex changes, and the tasks ahead will be arduous and heavy. We must firmly uphold, make good use of, and further develop the Party’s leadership—the greatest advantage we have—to provide a fundamental guarantee for building Chinese-style modernization.

The meeting held that, over the past year, the Party groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People's Court, and the Supreme People's Procuratorate have consistently adhered to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as their guiding principle, firmly upheld the authority and centralized, unified leadership of the Party Central Committee, earnestly implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party and the resolutions of successive plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee, closely focused on the overall work of the Party and the country in performing their duties and responsibilities, and effectively strengthened the building of their own Party groups, achieving new successes in all aspects of their work.

The meeting held that, over the past year, under the leadership of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and its Standing Committee, the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee has earnestly implemented the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee, actively fulfilled its duties and responsibilities, and carried out extensive work in such areas as completing tasks assigned by the Party Central Committee, strengthening the construction of internal Party regulations and systems, guiding and promoting the work of mass organizations, and addressing formalism to relieve burdens on the grassroots level.

The meeting emphasized that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and also the inaugural year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The Party groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People's Court, and the Supreme People's Procuratorate must take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as their guiding principle, thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and the resolutions of successive plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee, earnestly carry out the tasks laid down at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee, uphold the centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee, deeply grasp the decisive significance of the “Two Establishments,” enhance the “Four Consciousnesses,” firmly uphold the “Four Confidences,” and ensure the “Two Safeguards.” They must always maintain high ideological, political, and practical alignment with the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, and faithfully and fully implement all decisions and deployments made by the Party Central Committee. We must focus on the major strategic tasks for economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, unify our will, pool our strengths, and jointly advance work in all fields, striving to achieve a good start. We should establish and practice a correct view of official achievements, insisting on delivering tangible results for the people and achieving success through hard work and practical action. We must strengthen the building of the Party groups themselves, conscientiously fulfill our principal responsibility for comprehensively enforcing strict Party governance, and genuinely enhance our consciousness and determination for self-revolution.

The meeting emphasized that, in the new year, the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee must thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and the successive plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, earnestly carry out the arrangements made at the Fourth Plenary Session, and, guided by the directives of the CPC Central Political Bureau and its Standing Committee, focus on fulfilling key tasks—such as guiding and promoting centralized Party education, improving the construction of Party regulations and systems, strengthening and reforming mass organizations, and continuing to combat formalism to relieve burdens on the grassroots level—while ensuring high-quality completion of all tasks assigned by the Party Central Committee.
