China News Service Xiamen, October 29 (Wu Guanbiao) — On October 29, the 17th Cross-Strait (Xiamen) Cultural Industries Expo and Trade Fair (hereinafter referred to as the “Cross-Strait Cultural Industries Expo”) opened at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center.
This year’s Cross-Strait Cultural Industries Expo will run for four days, guided by the organizing philosophy of “one core, multiple hubs, whole‑area synergy, and digital‑intelligent empowerment.” Bringing together more than 1,000 institutions from home and abroad, the event aims to foster deeper, more substantive cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Strait and to drive high‑quality development of the cultural industries through a premier industry gathering that combines cultural depth, industrial sophistication, and cutting‑edge technological innovation.
According to reports, the main venue of this year’s Cross-Strait Cultural Expo boasts an exhibition space of 60,000 square meters, featuring one comprehensive cultural-industry zone and five specialized thematic zones—covering Fujian–Taiwan cultural exchange, intangible cultural heritage, cross-strait youth‑driven cultural‑creative integration, “technology + cultural tourism,” and cross-strait cultural‑tourism consumption—thus establishing a multifaceted cultural platform that integrates display, dialogue, and collaboration.

This year’s exhibition has drawn together exquisite crafts from around the world to the “Island of Egrets,” with nearly a thousand works from 11 countries showcased side by side, each complementing the others. Minnan lacquer-thread carving, intricate and delicate; Rongbaozhai woodblock watermarks, simple yet elegant; Tibetan thangkas, vibrant and richly textured—each highlights the profound heritage of China’s outstanding traditional culture. Meanwhile, overseas masterpieces such as Russian matryoshka dolls and Thai leather shadow puppets make their debut, allowing visitors to experience the artistry and cultural depth of crafts from across the globe without leaving the venue.
Beyond the static exhibits, pop‑up opera performances and Hanfu parades—part of the “national‑trend” cultural wave—take turns on stage, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience. Meanwhile, pavilions such as the Cross‑Strait Crafts Exhibition and the Fujian–Taiwan Folk Art Heritage Special Exhibition bring together more than a hundred renowned artisans, showcasing masterpieces in brick carving, wood carving, stone carving, and other time‑honored crafts. Across the strait, craftsmen exchange skills and learn from one another, breathing new life into age‑old techniques for the modern era.

The exhibition features a dedicated cross-strait cultural and tourism consumption zone, establishing a collaborative platform for connecting cultural and tourism resources and integrating diverse consumption scenarios. This initiative aims to facilitate supply‑demand matching and resource sharing between enterprises on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, jointly developing cultural and tourism products and creating high‑quality travel itineraries.
In addition, this year’s exhibition highlights the practical applications of cutting-edge technologies such as AIGC and embodied intelligent robots in the cultural and tourism sectors, with a particular focus on showcasing the achievements of emerging cultural formats like “ciyuan going global” and AI‑driven animated series. From AI‑powered content creation and digital upgrades to exhibition and presentation methods, to smart optimization of operational services, the event comprehensively demonstrates how technology is enhancing quality and efficiency while generating new value for the cultural industry, offering a benchmark for the digital transformation of cultural enterprises.
