Xi Jinping delivered a written address, extending sincere greetings and best wishes to the American people on behalf of the Chinese people.

Xi Jinping pointed out that both China and the United States are great nations, and that the Chinese people and the American people are equally great. The peoples of the two countries have enjoyed long-standing friendly exchanges, and their interests are deeply intertwined. China and the United States should be partners rather than adversaries; advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can and should proceed in parallel, mutually reinforcing one another and benefiting the world. During his visit to China in May this year, President Trump and I agreed to build a constructive, strategic, and stable relationship between China and the United States, providing strategic guidance for the future development of bilateral ties. Both sides should move toward each other, fostering a stable relationship characterized by cooperation as the mainstay, competition kept within bounds, manageable differences, and prospects for peace, thus charting a course for the proper coexistence of two major powers in the new era.

Xi Jinping emphasized that while the world is developing and the times are changing, the historical logic of peaceful coexistence between China and the United States remains unchanged; the shared aspiration of the two peoples for friendly exchanges has not wavered; and the international community’s broad expectations for China and the United States have remained constant. I look forward to engaging in in-depth discussions with President Trump on major issues that bear on bilateral relations and the global landscape, continuously enriching the substance of a constructive strategic stability between China and the United States, and expanding the space for cooperation and exchanges across all fields. I also hope to engage extensively with people from all sectors of American society, thereby deepening our friendship. I am confident that, through the concerted efforts of both sides, this visit will yield fruitful results, enhance the well-being of the peoples of both countries, and inject new hope into world peace.

He Lifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, who arrived earlier, along with Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng, also went to the airport to greet them.
