Feng Zaiwen, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy District Mayor of the Jiangjin District People’s Government of Chongqing Municipality, paid a visit.
Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform and Deputy Director of the CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee’s Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs, welcomed Feng Zaiwen and his delegation. The meeting was attended by Secretary-General Wen Jixu and Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Guangfu.
Feng Zaiwen presented an overview of Jiangjin District’s overall economic and social development. He stated that the district is thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions during his inspection tour of Chongqing, fully carrying out the directives and requirements of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, and aligning its efforts with national strategies such as the construction of the Chengdu–Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle. Leveraging its industrial base and resource endowments, Jiangjin is accelerating high‑level opening-up and high‑quality development. As a key pillar of Chongqing’s reputation as the “Motorcycle Capital,” Jiangjin boasts a complete automotive and motorcycle manufacturing industry chain, abundant cultural and tourism resources, and excellent mountain‑bike riding conditions. He expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to forge close cooperative ties with the platform, capitalizing on its unique strengths in international economic and trade cooperation and the aggregation of resources and factors. He also called for actively exploring joint initiatives to host international motorcycle events, fostering deep integration among sports, industry, culture and tourism, and commerce, thereby helping Jiangjin further expand its opening-up and contributing to the overarching national diplomatic agenda and the development of Chongqing as an inland open hub.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform remains committed to upholding the “Shanghai Spirit” and earnestly implements the resolutions adopted at previous summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member-state heads. Centered on the core mission of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital and traditional economies,” the platform leverages industry working committees to bring together market entities of diverse ownership forms, thereby fostering an industrial‑collaborative innovation ecosystem in SCO member states led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain‑leading” firms. This effort supports local governments in attracting investment and seeks to dismantle barriers to cooperation among enterprises with different ownership structures, while exploring the establishment of “SCO standards” to lay the groundwork for a global realignment of productive forces. He emphasized that Jiangjin District boasts a solid industrial foundation, abundant cultural and tourism resources, and strong momentum in opening up, offering vast potential for collaboration with the platform across multiple sectors. The platform stands ready to co‑establish a collaborative mechanism with Jiangjin District, supporting its efforts to host motorcycle racing events, expand international economic and trade cooperation, and jointly create a new model of international economic‑trade platforms and coordinated development between local governments.
Wen Jixu chaired the symposium, presenting the platform’s innovative operational model and its achievements in construction and development. He highlighted successful cases of international cooperation involving the platform’s relevant working committees. Jiang Min from the Platform’s Project Expansion Department also attended the meeting. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on practical areas of collaboration, including hosting automotive and motorcycle racing events, facilitating industry‑project matchmaking, and integrating culture, sports, commerce, and tourism. They exchanged views on how to coordinate and advance related initiatives moving forward.
Chen Yankuo, Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the Jiangjin District Government; Li Yan, Director of the District Culture and Tourism Commission and Director of the District Sports Bureau; Zhu Zhengxiang, Deputy Director of the District Culture and Tourism Commission and Deputy Director of the District Sports Bureau; Yu Chan, Deputy Director of the Port and Logistics Development Service Center of the District Commerce Commission; and Liu Fei, Section Chief of the Foreign Trade Section of the District Commerce Commission, among others, attended the meeting.
