On the afternoon of September 4, the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee held a meeting.
Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, presided over the meeting and addressed the attendees.
The meeting emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech delivered during his attendance at the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, to gain a profound understanding of the historic achievements the SCO has attained over its 25 years of existence, to fully grasp the “four commitments” guiding the organization’s pursuit of higher‑quality development, and to clearly recognize the pathways and directions for reforming and improving global governance so as to better leverage the SCO’s role. It called for closely aligning with the goals of solidifying the SCO’s dual positioning and enhancing its threefold functions, proactively integrating into and serving the country’s overall diplomatic agenda, actively participating in specialized and subnational cooperation mechanisms among SCO member states, deepening practical cooperation in key areas, continuously strengthening people-to-people friendship, and reinforcing Chongqing’s strategic hub function as a link among the three major markets of Europe, China, and ASEAN, thereby striving to make an even greater contribution to the national cause.
