On August 11, 2026, Long Zhou, Director-General of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vladimir Klimov, Director-General of the Consular Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 24th round of China–Russia consular consultations in Beijing. The two sides engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on key issues, including the current landscape of consular work, China–Russia consular relations, facilitation of people-to-people exchanges, and the protection of the safety and legitimate rights and interests of their respective citizens and institutions.
Both sides unanimously agreed to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen communication and cooperation in the consular field, create safe and convenient conditions for practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges across all sectors, and advance bilateral relations toward higher levels and greater quality.
