Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform and Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese, and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, welcomed Mr. Moni and his delegation. Vice-Secretary-General Liu Jie accompanied the meeting.
Mony explained that the group, established in 2016, is a diversified conglomerate focused on technological innovation, industrial engineering, and international trade services. It has long been deeply engaged in the markets of countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, with operations spanning more than ten Central Asian and Middle Eastern nations, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, and serves as a benchmark for Chinese enterprises expanding into South Asia and the Gulf markets. He also highlighted the group’s initiatives, such as establishing the Pakistan Center in Changshu High-Tech Zone and spearheading the development of a Belt and Road Economic and Trade Center. Mony noted that Jiangsu Province has set up dedicated industrial parks in Saudi Arabia, while the group itself has cultivated an extensive network of local partners across the Middle East, boasting well-established market channels and proven project‑management expertise. He expressed hope to integrate the complementary strengths of both sides, work together to deepen engagement in the Middle Eastern market, and forge end-to-end collaborative pathways spanning industrial investment, trade logistics, and supply-chain support.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform remains committed to upholding the “Shanghai Spirit” and earnestly implements the resolutions adopted at previous summits of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Centered on the core mission of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital and traditional economies,” the platform leverages industry working committees to bring together market entities of diverse ownership forms, thereby fostering an industrial‑collaborative innovation ecosystem in SCO member states led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain‑leading” firms. It also supports local governments in attracting investment, seeks to dismantle barriers to cooperation among enterprises with different ownership structures, and explores the establishment of “SCO standards,” laying the groundwork for a global realignment of productive forces.
Liu Jie chaired the symposium, presenting the platform’s innovative operational model and its achievements in construction and development, with a particular focus on sharing successful cases of international cooperation from the platform’s relevant working committees. The two sides engaged in an in-depth exchange on issues of mutual interest.
Chen Jie, Chairman of the Platform’s International Industry–City Investment and Development Committee, along with Deputy Secretary-General Zeng Zhuyuan, attended the meeting, joined by Liu Longgang, Deputy General Manager of Yibi Technology Group, Hu Ming, Assistant to the Chairman, and Zong Qianzhen, Project Director.
