Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform and Deputy Director of the CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee’s Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs, welcomed Professor Wang Xianju and his delegation. The meeting was attended by Vice-Secretary-General Wang Jianping.
Meanwhile, as a researcher at the Belarus Research Center of Zhejiang Shuren University, Professor Wang Xianju listened to an overview of the platform, focusing on its innovative operational model and its achievements in construction and development. Drawing on his extensive research experience, he put forward practical recommendations for the platform’s high-quality development, covering areas such as deepening institutionalized governance, strengthening think-tank collaboration, concentrating on priority sectors, and optimizing services for enterprises.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform remains committed to upholding the “Shanghai Spirit” and earnestly implements the resolutions adopted at previous summits of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Centered on the core mission of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital and traditional economies,” the platform leverages industry working committees to bring together market entities of diverse ownership forms, thereby fostering an industrial‑collaborative innovation ecosystem in SCO member states led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain‑leading” firms. It also supports local governments in attracting investment, seeks to dismantle barriers to cooperation among enterprises with different ownership structures, and explores the establishment of “SCO standards,” laying the groundwork for a global realignment of productive forces.
During the research visit, Professor Wang Xianju and his delegation successively visited a series of public‑service platforms established through innovative collaboration, including the Chongqing Institute for Digital‑Intelligent Industrial Economic Development, the International Trade Center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform, Chongqing Xitou Group, the SCO Price Dispute Mediation Center in Liangjiang New Area, and the Liangjiang New Area Association for Promoting Corporate Sustainable Development. They gained an in-depth understanding of how these platforms operate under a coordinated service matrix that integrates international economic and trade organizations, industry associations, and research think tanks. The delegation highly commended the platforms’ proactive role in advancing local‑level economic and trade cooperation and people‑to‑people exchanges among SCO member states, as well as the tangible results they have achieved. They expressed hope that the platforms will continue to leverage their strengths as bridges and conduits, tirelessly exploring new models and pathways to support the economic development of the SCO region and delivering even more significant outcomes.
