BEIJING, May 3 (Xinhua) — On the occasion of the May Fourth Youth Day, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, replied to a letter from representatives of the recipients of the China Youth May Fourth Medal and the New-Era Youth Vanguard Award, extending festive greetings to young people of all ethnic groups across the country and expressing high expectations for them.
In his reply, Xi Jinping stated that you have kept the Party’s instructions firmly in mind, taking root at the grassroots level in areas such as scientific and technological innovation, rural revitalization, social services, and national defense and border defense, and dedicating yourselves through hard work and a sense of responsibility to write a chapter of youthful commitment without regret. In doing so, you have showcased the fine spirit of self-confidence, self-reliance, and vigorous upward momentum that characterizes Chinese youth in the new era.
Xi Jinping emphasized that this year marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, making it an opportune time for young people to make contributions. He expressed the hope that you will harbor lofty ideals, remain committed to hard work and struggle, inspire the broader youth to align their personal aspirations with the overall national development agenda, and, from your respective posts, continuously achieve new accomplishments and contribute your youthful energy to the new journey ahead.
The China Youth May Fourth Medal and the New-Era Youth Vanguard Award are intended to recognize and commend outstanding young role models who demonstrate political progress, high moral character, and remarkable contributions. Recently, 16 young representatives who have received these awards since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China wrote a letter to General Secretary Xi Jinping, reporting on their experiences and insights from taking root and dedicating themselves at the grassroots level, and expressing their determination to make achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and to forge ahead on the Long March of the new era.
