Xi Jinping arrives in Cairo for a state visit to Egypt.
CAIRO, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) — On the evening of September 1, local time, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Cairo aboard a special plane, undertaking a state visit to Egypt at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Upon Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, arriving at Cairo International Airport, President Sisi and his wife were on hand to extend a warm welcome. Honor guards lined both sides of the red carpet in salute, while Egyptian youths waved the flags of China and Egypt, enthusiastically greeting the visiting couple.
Xi Jinping delivered a written address, on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, extending sincere greetings and best wishes to the Egyptian government and the Egyptian people.
Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Egypt are both ancient civilizations, with a traditional friendship that has endured for millennia and grown ever stronger. Over the 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, regardless of how the international and regional landscape has evolved, the two countries have consistently stood together in solidarity, pursuing win-win cooperation. In recent years, together with President Sisi, I have led the China–Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to achieve leapfrog development. The two countries enjoy solid political mutual trust, fruitful outcomes from mutually beneficial cooperation, and close, effective multilateral coordination, serving as a model for friendly coexistence and concerted collaboration among developing nations. During this visit, I will engage in in-depth exchanges with President Sisi on China–Egypt relations, all‑round cooperation between the two countries, and international and regional issues of common concern, jointly charting a blueprint for the further development of the China–Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership and writing a new chapter in the history of China–Egypt friendship.
