BISHKEK, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) — On the afternoon of August 30, local time, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Bishkek aboard a special plane. At the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, he will attend the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan.

Upon their arrival at Manas International Airport in Bishkek, President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, were warmly welcomed by President Sadyr Japarov and his wife. President Japarov presented flowers to Peng Liyuan. Local young women offered traditional pastries and honey to the Chinese leaders, extending a warm welcome in accordance with time-honored customs. Honor guards lined both sides of the red carpet to pay their respects. The two presidential couples jointly enjoyed performances featuring local traditional musical instruments and vocal renditions, as well as cultural displays showcasing falconry, hunting dogs, a formation of traditional warriors, mounted cavalry, and yurts. Local youth also sang Chinese songs.

Xi Jinping delivered a written address, on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, extending sincere greetings and best wishes to President Japarov and the people of Kyrgyzstan.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Kyrgyzstan enjoy a time-honored tradition of friendship, with the majestic Tian Shan Mountains standing as silent witnesses to the two peoples’ centuries‑long history of amicable exchanges. Over the 34 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China–Kyrgyzstan ties have withstood the tests of ever‑changing international circumstances, maintaining sound and steady development and reaching the high level of a comprehensive strategic partnership for the new era. In recent years, cooperation between the two countries has entered a “golden period” of rapid growth, with bilateral trade and people-to-people exchanges hitting new record highs, and major projects such as the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway being implemented smoothly. The tangible outcomes of mutually beneficial cooperation have brought widespread benefits to the peoples of both nations. During my visit, I will hold in-depth talks with President Japarov on China–Kyrgyzstan relations, cooperation across various fields, and international and regional issues of common concern, charting a new course for building a China–Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future. I look forward to attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek and, together with all parties, advancing the SCO toward continued new developments.
