Hu Kaiqiang, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Multifunctional Economic and Trade Platform and Deputy Director of the CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee’s Committee on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Foreign Affairs, welcomed Zhang Weijie and his delegation. Vice-Secretary-General Wang Jianping accompanied the meeting.
Zhang Weijie provided an overview of the Huaxia Culture Inheritance Fund under the China Foundation for the Development of Overseas Talents, highlighting its efforts to integrate the inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine with cutting-edge modern scientific and technological innovation through acupuncture, the “Space-Time Hospital,” and the principle of “food as medicine.” Notably, the “Tianyi Space-Time Acupuncture” system, led by Zhang Weijie, has been designated a key project for nationwide promotion by the Science and Technology Exchange Center of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Leveraging an extensive network of overseas talent, the initiative has also accumulated mature experience in establishing and operating TCM clinics in Canada and other foreign countries. He expressed hope to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the platform, actively advancing traditional Chinese medicine and its cultural heritage—represented by TCM—to the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, thereby enhancing the health and well-being of people across more regions and contributing positively to the building of a closer SCO community of health and hygiene.
Hu Kaiqiang pointed out that the platform remains committed to upholding the “Shanghai Spirit” and earnestly implements the resolutions adopted at previous summits of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Centered on the core mission of “building a new SCO ecosystem characterized by the deep integration of the digital and traditional economies,” the platform leverages industry working committees to bring together market entities of diverse ownership forms, thereby fostering an industrial collaborative innovation ecosystem in SCO member states led by Chinese enterprises serving as “chain‑leading” firms. It also supports local governments in attracting investment, seeks to dismantle barriers to cooperation among enterprises with different ownership structures, and explores the establishment of “SCO standards,” laying the groundwork for a global realignment of productive forces.
Wang Jianping chaired the symposium, presenting the platform’s innovative operational model and its achievements in construction and development. He highlighted successful cases of international cooperation involving the platform’s relevant working committees, while Qiu Rong from the Platform’s Project Expansion Department also took part. The two sides engaged in an in-depth exchange on issues of mutual interest.
