[Source: Xinhuanet] Beijing, November 4 (Reporter Wang Ying) At 1:24 on November 4, the seventh batch of space science experiment samples from the space station returned smoothly with the Shenzhou 18 spacecraft. There are 55 kinds of samples in this downward science experiment, involving 28 scientific experiment projects in the fields of space life science, space material science, and microgravity combustion science, with a total weight of about 34.6kg.
At about 9: 45 a.m. on the 4th, the life science experiment samples were transferred to the space application engineering and technology center of the Chinese academy of sciences in Beijing at the first time. as the overall unit of the space application system of manned space engineering, the space application center of the Chinese academy of sciences checked and confirmed the basic status of the returned life experiment samples and delivered them to scientists for follow-up research.
According to the introduction of the Space Application Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 24 kinds of life samples, including zebrafish culture medium, amino acids, oligopeptides, methanogenic archaea, radiation-resistant microorganisms, stone microorganisms and lichens, will be carried out by subsequent researchers for metagenome sequencing, phenotypic genetic analysis, proteome and transcriptome analysis, etc, focus on the study of the material circulation mechanism of aquatic ecosystems in the space environment to provide theoretical support for the construction of complex ecosystems with long-term stable operation in space; focus on the influence of microgravity effects on the chemical origin of codons and what kind of space environment may have complex life molecular basis; to evaluate the survival limit and tolerance of extreme environment microorganisms, to explore the ability of extreme environment microorganisms to expand into outer space, to study the possibility of interstellar transmission of life on earth, and to verify the hypothesis of rock origin.
It is reported that the materials and combustion samples will be transported back to Beijing with the spacecraft's return module. The downward material samples include 30 kinds of high-temperature refractory niobium alloy, FeSi-based soft magnetic alloy, bioactive glass, composite lubricating material, optical fiber and optical thin film, etc. After returning, the scientific researchers will test and analyze the tissue morphology, chemical composition and its distribution difference, and study the influence law of gravity on the material growth, composition segregation, solidification defects and performance, the study of the service behavior and performance of materials in the special space environment can provide technical support for the manufacture and application of materials in the next generation of aviation turbine blades, space fiber lasers, precision medical repair and other fields. Promote the space application of long-life space lubricating materials, neutron shielding materials for precision electronic equipment, sound insulation and heat insulation metal porous materials, high-performance metal soft magnetic materials, etc.
The returned combustion sample is a nano-particle material based on methane combustion synthesis. After returning, scientists will analyze the particle size, morphology, lattice structure, etc. to study the influence mechanism of gravity on the evaporation of precursor droplets, the coalescence growth and crystallization of nano-particles in the process of gas phase combustion synthesis, and strive to lay a foundation for the technological development of key particle materials in gas phase synthesis in the external environment.
